Trump Administration Puts EPA on Media Blackout

AP News reported today that the Trump Administration has put the EPA on a media blackout and barred staff from awarding any new contracts or grants. The action went into effect immediately after Trump took office on Friday and it is unclear when it will be lifted. As of now, staffers in EPA's public affairs office are instructed to forward all inquiries from reporters to the Office of Administration and Resources Management.

Trump’s gaze on the EPA spans more than just press releases and sharing information. As of the inauguration the agency has called for a temporary suspension of all new business activities at the department, including issuing task orders or work assignments to EPA contractors.

What this means for the HVACR industry remains uncertain. Results may become more apparent as the industry reacts during this weekend’s AHR Expo in Las Vegas, NV.
