Mixed-Refrigerant Autocascade Systems

Form #: 620-100
Due to the complexity of the subject, this chapter will develop the concept of the MRA system in four steps. The basic vapor compression refrigeration system, the basic two-state cascade system, describing a basic MRA system, and finally explaining the details of a complex MRA unit will be reviewed.

Two- and Three-Stage Refrigerating Systems

Form #: 620-57
This chapter goes into the fundamental refrigeration principles that are needed to work on ultra-low temperature equipment. The chapter goes into the design and operation of the various parts of the equipment – such as the compressor, the expansion valve, the heat exchangers, the evaporator and the compressor.

Cascade Refrigeration

Form #: 620-58A
This chapter is devoted entirely to cascade systems, which are generally accepted for temperatures in -58°F to -200°F (-50°C to -127°C) range.

Operation of a Three-Stage Cascade Refrigeration System

Form #: 620-80
A three-stage cascade system was operated at the "Freon" Products Laboratory (at the DuPont Corporation) in conjunction with a secondary refrigerant calorimeter with the general objective of demonstrating satisfactory continuous operation. The specific goal was to develop an oil system that would permit such operation. In this chapter, the performance of the cascade system is described, rather than the details of the equipment.
