The RSES Member Webinar series continues with an exploration of servicing refrigeration systems when using refrigerant blends.

This webinar will investigate the operating and design differences of refrigeration and air conditioning systems when using refrigerant blends as opposed to single component refrigerants. The definitions of glide, bubble and dew point will be discussed. Practical approaches to setting up systems will be discussed including measuring superheat and sub-cooling.

Included will be a discussion on how to properly set operating pressures when using a blend and how to calculate average evaporating and condensing temperatures. Retrofitting systems from single component refrigerants to one having moderate glide will be explained to assure proper system operation post retrofit. Finally, several myths concerning refrigerant blends will be examined including the effects of leaks and recharging.
