College Credit for RSES Courses

RSES Articulation Agreement with Pennsylvania College of Technology
RSES has entered into an articulation agreement with The Pennsylvania State University affiliate, Pennsylvania College of Technology, based in Williamsport, Pa., benefiting transfer students and the institutions involved. The finalized agreement allows individuals who have completed specified RSES training courses the ability to transfer those earned credits toward a Bachelor of Science major in Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Design Technology.

RSES is among six education providers that have signed an articulation agreement in the category of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Design Technology with Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Agreement Purpose
The purpose of the agreement is to allow students who are seeking a bachelor’s degree and have completed many hours of RSES training courses, the ability to transfer without losing coursework credit.

Under its School of Construction & Design Technologies, individuals looking for a bachelor degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering Technology may transfer in as a junior to Pennsylvania College of Technology providing specific requirements are met. These requirements include:

  • Individuals must submit a completed Penn College application.
  • Students must have gained admission to Penn College and met placement requirements.
  • Students must submit an official, final high school transcript.
  • Students must submit an official RSES Examination & Training Course Participation Transcript that shows the completion of each course listed here (also below) with a final exam score of 75% or higher.
  • Students must submit a verification letter from their employer that documents a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in the refrigeration industry to establish competency in the occupation. The letter should be submitted to the School of Engineering Technologies, Construction & Architectural Technology division.
  • Penn College will only consider those credits earned through RSES for the terms of this agreement. Students must request transcripts from additional institutions to be evaluated on an individual basis at Penn College.
  • Students must complete a minimum of 36 credits at Penn College for coursework prescribed in the final four semesters of the student’s baccalaureate profile.
  • Credits will post on the student’s official academic transcript upon the successful completion of twelve (12) credits of academic work at Penn College. Prior to completion of twelve (12) credits, for advising and scheduling purposes, approved credits will show on working copies of the student’s academic transcript and on the student’s graduation profile. Whether Penn College credits will be accepted by another college or university is at the discretion of the receiving college or university.
  • Completion of each RSES training unit with a final exam of 75% or higher;

RSES Training Courses Required for PCT Degree
Successful completion of all of the below courses is necessary in order to receive 51 credits toward the degree. The specific required RSES training course titles include: Heat Pump Training Course; Heating Fundamentals; Electric Heating; Gas Heating; Oil Heating; Hot Water Heating; Steam Heating; Principles of Refrigeration; Compressors, Condensers and Cooling Towers; Evaporators and System Components; Tools Controls and Troubleshooting; Air Conditioning Principles; Heat Transfer and Distribution; Introduction to Electricity; Electrical Components; Basic Electronics or Basic Electronics for Controls*; Troubleshooting Components; Troubleshooting Residential Equipment; Fundamentals of Controls; Pneumatic Controls; Electromechanical Controls and Electronic Proportional Controls. Individual courses are not evaluated or transferable. In addition, among the transfer requirements, individuals must complete the above RSES training courses within the past 10 years.
