RSES Releases New Service Application Manual Chapter

May 5th, 2016

In an effort to provide heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration professionals with continuous, up-to-date training, RSES has released a new Service Application Manual chapter. The SAM chapter, 650-017, Section 22, The Basics of Pre-Season AC Maintenance, was written by Darryl Roberson of Regal Beloit Corp. All RSES members have access to the electronic file through the RSES website.

SAM is the oldest HVACR reference manual available in the industry. It contains thousands of pages of technical data, equipment analyses and evaluations, field application instruction, regulations, good practice codes, business development guidance and more. SAM is a great resource to obtain knowledge in 25 categories and 45 subcategories of HVACR-related topics. Members can access hundreds of SAM chapters online as an RSES member benefit.

The Basics of Pre-Season AC Maintenance details pre-season air conditioning system maintenance is an important preventive procedure that includes inspecting the motor, the fan blade, the wiring harness drip loop, the capacitor and other components. Additionally, checking for proper installation and operation and troubleshooting any potential problems can help prevent emergencies in the midst of a summer heat wave.

RSES members can find The Basics of Pre-Season AC Maintenance online by visiting and selecting "My RSES Home Page" after logging in, then selecting “Service Application Manuals (SAM)” on the left-hand side of the webpage and finally searching by title.
