RSES’ Understanding Geothermal Heat Pump Fundamentals manual is the second geothermal title to be released in the RSES Sustainability Series. This manual explains geothermal heat pumps and is designed to be a gateway to understanding this amazing technology. Geothermal heat pump systems are among the most energy-efficient technologies for providing comfort heating and cooling and domestic hot water heating. Water-source heat pumps, also covered in this book, are considered to be geothermal heat pumps as well, but they extract and dissipate heat by way of water instead of the ground.
Study topics include heat pump fundamentals, systems, principles, compressors, flow controls and accessories, electrical systems and components, thermostats, supplemental electric heat, water-source heat pump systems, heat pump piping, and troubleshooting water-source heat pumps.
